Since it’s pretty obvious that the B-52’s are not the “World’s greatest party band” anymore, Brooklyn’s dynamic duo Matt and Kim might have a good shot at taking the crown. They love each other, they love you and unless you’re a cheap half-Nazi grouchy IRS inspector, you will love them too.
In 2004, after they met and started dating while attending the Pratt Institute in NY, they started playing house parties, local warehouse shows, gaining more and more attention on the DIY scene. And, seriously, these guys could make anybody dance. Even a legless crippled dude. Even Vladimir Putin. Even the tight-ass yuppie crowd at the Parisian club “Le Baron” where we shot this story. And even if most of these people have probably never seen any of Matt and Kim’s brilliant videos or heard a single song from their latest album “Grand”, they still danced their asses off.
My wish: if I can’t have the Ghostbusters playing at my next birthday party, I definitely want Matt and Kim. And a cake.
