Rien: MasterKraft

Funny to define RIEN’s music – try “tropical math-rock”. Anyway, Grenoble-based act RIEN- french word for “Nothing” – come back with the first piece of a trilogy “which will end in 2014″ and “without any name right now. “3″ (next episode will probably be “2″) contains 4 strong instrumental tunes. RIEN start a kind of euro-tour, heading to Paris, Elysée Montmarte, supporting 65daysofstatic on April 30th.

“Download “3″ for freaks” (but you could easily pay whatever you want for it too) HERE

HeWhoCanNotBeNamed : Sunday School Massacre

HeWhoCanNotBeNamed : Sunday School Massacre

This is not even something I can remember live because I’m just too young. But I know that in any record store you go, there’s always a hidden Dwarves record. Originally from Chicago, mid-80′s hardcore/garage band had relocated in San Francisco. But anyway, the true reason why the band was known for was the guy, He Who Cannot Be Named, a naked masked-guitar player. Lire la suite

Health: USA Boys

” “USA Boys” was recorded at former tourmate Trent Reznor’s home studio with Alan Moulder at the mixing desk, a guy who’s produced Depeche Mode, My Bloody Valentine, and a grip of other crushingly coarse, wonderfully hi-fi records. Lire la suite

Yeasayer: Remix Contest

Yeasayer: Remix Contest

A month ago, Brooklyn-based Yeasayer offered a bunch of goodies in exchange of your financial donnations for them to go to Uganda, which is probably the biggest joke of the year. They gathered 22 grands for their little journey to Africa, which prupose was to learn about the effects of the Ugandan civil war. Think what that money would have fixed over there for kids involved in it! Instead of paying for sending hypsters to African History class.
Today the band launches a remix contest of the song O.N.E. from the album Odd Blood. On Mad Decent’s website, who’s organizing the competition, you can read that “the winners are determined by public voting [...] so it’s up to you as the creator to promote your mix”. Lire la suite

Vektron Modular

Vektron Modular

Niklas Roy lives in Berlin and he “loves to make things” as you may read on his website. He is the conceptor of the “International Dance Party”, “Flora & Harmony”, or the “Pocket Sound Performer”, among other bright inventions. And he is back today with Vektron Modular: a home made algorithmic synthesizer which you can swap the microcontroller modules on which the compositions are stored. Lire la suite

Broken Deer: White Woman

Broken Deer: White Woman

Broken Deer is Lindsay Dobbin’s solo project. She’s from the northern frontier of the Yukon, deep Canada. She’s definitely not a urban girl – she had a split cassette with a band called “Fuck Montreal“. Her weird and beautiful songs are mixed with field recordings, soundscapes, and lo-fi blips and bleeps to create a “celebration of nature, ritual, life and decay”. Lire la suite
