Two years after their first album A, French band Turzi comes back with a new album, and guess what? It’s entitled B. So it will take roughly 48 years until we get to hear Z. My point is that if we’re all going to die in 2012 like it’s supposed to happen, there’s no way we go further than C, right?
Maybe Romain Turzi is aware of that and this is why Turzi’s music sounds like it’s the end of the world. A pre-apocalyptic sound rooted in influences such as My Bloody Valentine, Sonic Youth, Krautrock and early electronics. Their radical approach to music comes from a long tradition of french pioneers such as Gong, Heldon, Alpes or Areski and Brigitte Fontaine (which is featured on the album, so is Bobby Gillespie from Primal Scream…)
From Bombay to Buenos Aires, B is a travel guide to psycheledism where hippies are not invited.
