Being one of the first internet multimillionaires, he was often called the “Warhol of the Web” and develloped many experiments such as Quiet: We Live in Public an Orwellian concept where 100 artists would live in a NY basement for one month, followed by a myriad of webcams. Sex in public, drugs, and total freedom of speech where happening in what became some sort of modern Factory.
After the company’s bankruptcy due to the end of the dot-com bubble in 2000, Harris had his last web-reality experience, living with his girlfriend under video surveillance during 6 months, which led him to nervous breakdown. He lives now in Ethiopia and claims that his company was fake, a conceptual performance art.
